In Lessons 1 to 5, we introduced the basics of Vietnamese. From here, we will introduce basic phrases that can be used in actual conversations.<\/p>\n

First, let’s learn how to introduce ourselves in Vietnamese, an essential part of any conversation.<\/p>\n

Self-introduce: “I am <\/strong>\uff5e”\u3000<\/strong>\u3000<\/span>\u3000<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Explanation: The verb “l\u00e0” in Vietnamese is similar to the verb “to be” in English. It indicates that the subject and the noun are equal. It does not change according to the subject’s gender, number, or tense.<\/p>\n

                👉Fun Fact: Vietnamese Names<\/strong><\/h3>\n

                In Vietnam, there are 54 ethnic groups coexisting across the country. The majority (over 80%) are the Kinh people. Generally, the Kinh people live in plains or urban areas, while other ethnic minorities reside in mountains or highlands. The names of the Kinh people consist of “last name + middle name + first name”.<\/p>\n

                In Vietnam, many people share the same last names, with the top three last names, Nguy\u1ec5n (Nguyen), Tr\u1ea7n (Tran), and L\u00ea (Le), accounting for more than 60% of the population. Therefore, people call each other by their first names rather than last names, and when introducing themselves, they use their first names<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
